Three important
soils - black, red , yellow and alluvial are found in Madhya
Pradesh.

The Black Soil |
|
| |
The black soil is found over the Malwa plateau, Satpura
and Narmada valley regions. Formed from the basalt, this
is a highly fertile soil the black colour of this soil is
because of high iron content. The soil requires less
irrigation due to its water retaining quality. The soil is
most suitable for wheat, Jwar, cotton, pulses and oilseeds. |

The Red and Yellow Soils |

This soil is found over Chhattisgarh
and Bhagelkhand in the eastern Madhya Pradesh. The soil
requires irrigation and double crop can be cropped with the
irrigation facility. Paddy (rice) is mainly grown on this
soil.

The Alluvial Soil |
|
| |
The soil extends over the Bhind, Murena, Gwalior and Shivpuri
districts. This is highly fertile soil. |

Land Resources |
|
| |
Madhya Pradesh, the largest State of India offers adequate
land to industries for their present and future use liberally
at one of the best terms. Already, large areas have been
denoted and developed for industrial development. Many hundred
hectares are in the process of being transferred to industries
department for allocation to industrial units. 17482.613
hectares of land has been ear marked for AKVNs (Industrial
Centres Development Corporation), Industrial Areas, Semi-Urban
Industrial Entrepreneurs and Rural Workshops. |
