The net sown area of Madhya Pradesh is 19,478 thousand hectares
which is 43.93% of its total geographical area, out of which
3,726 thousand hectare land is cropped more than once. 23.8% of
the net sown area of Madhya Pradesh is irrigated. 173.6 lakhs
hectare land of the state is under food crops. The area under
cereals, pulses, Sugar cane, fruits, vegetables and spices is

Main agricultural resources are Oil
Seeds (Soyabean, Other oil seeds), Cotton (Bales), Maize,
Sugarcane, Gram, Mango, Guava, Papaya, Orange, Potato, Tomato,
Garlic, Coriander, Poppy etc. As the foremost producer of
oilseeds, MP accounts for 82% of India's total soybean
production. The third largest producer of food grains, MP has a
wealth of raw material and 20% of India's forest resources. |

in the state are cotton textile industry (Indore, Ujjain and
Rajnandgaon districts), sugar mills (Gwalior, Mandsaur, Ujjain,
Ratlam districts), Jute Industries (Raigarh, Raipur, Satna and
Shadol district), Vegetables Ghee Industry (Indore, Gwalior,
Jabalpur, East Nimar, and Vidisha districts).
