Shri Gaur visited Russia on an invitation
of the U.S.S.R. in 1989, Sri Lanka as member of Madhya Pradesh Assembly
delegation to the convention of the Common Wealth Parliamentary
Association in January 1991, Nepal in 1996 and Paris, Brussels,
Salzburg, Rome, France and Germany in 1998 on behalf of the Madhya
Pradesh Parliamentary Association.
Shri Gaur has been conferred the title of
Varsh Shri by Dainik Nai Dunia, Bhopal following an opinion poll in 1991
(there were eight other nominees including Shri Arjun Singh and Shri
Madhavrao Scindia). Singaria Club honoured Shri Gaur during his Sri
Lanka visit for climbing a height of 1999 meter despite being over 55
years of age. He was honoured by Madhya Pradesh Government in 1974 with
Swatantrata Sangram Senani Samman for participation in Goa Liberation
Movement. He is founder member of Bhartiya Majdoor Sangh.Shri Gaur has
been a volunteer of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh since 1946. He has also
been the Secretary of Bhartiya Jansangh since 1956. He was in jail for
19 months under MISA during Emergency.
Shri Gaur has been elected MLA from
Govindpura Assembly constituency continuously since 1974. He was elected
with highest margin of 59,666 votes in 1993 Assembly elections. He
surpassed his own record by being elected with a margin of 64,212 votes
in 2003 Madhya Pradesh Assembly election. Shri Gaur was Chief Whip of
BJP Legislature Party in 10th Assembly in 1993-98, chairman of Public
Accounts Committee, Member, Government Undertaking Committee, Member of
Privilege Committee and in -charge of urban bodies and General Secretary
of the Organization.
Shri Gaur was Vice-President of Madhya
Pradesh Bhartiya Janta Party before being elected Leader of Opposition
in 1999. He was appointed Minister for Urban Administration and
Development, Law and Legislative Affairs, Housing and Environment,
Labour and Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation on December 8,
2003. Shri Gaur was appointed Minister for Home, Legislative Affairs and
Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation in June 2004.

Minister of Madhya Pradesh on August 23, 2004
