Current MLA Balbeer Singh

Newly established Ashoknagar assembly seat is considered to be of Congress. But then too Congress had to face three times defeat. Due to immigration of BSP's Balbir Singh Kushvaha elected in 1998 elections to the Congress, the seat is still with Congress only. The elected area of Agriculture minister Mahendra Singh, on this seat more impact of caste equation is seen than various other election issues. Centralization of issues is also according to caste equations. Centralization of Raghuvanshi and Yadav votes, the inclination of Brahmins and Kushvaha votes decides the result of the election.
