The early name of Amanganj assembly area was Devendra Nagar assembly area. The name got changed in 1967. Amanganj is very backward area of Panna district. Scheduled caste voters are more here, therefore this assembly is reserved for them. Main competition is between Congress and BJP. The election do not take place on the basis of caste equations. Some efforts to do so is done by some of the main groups. Backward from development point of view, the issue is never raised in the elections. Some local problems are made issues but hardly they make any difference.
